Preparing the Crust

You’ll want to start by preheating your oven to 450ºF.

Next, place the butter and sugar into a bowl and beat on medium speed until fluffy. A couple of minutes should do! Now add in the vanilla and mix.

Turn the mixer to low and slowly start adding in the flour, a little bit at a time, mixing well after each addition. Once all the flour is incorporated, remove the dough and place in a 9 inch springform pan.

Using your bare hands and/or a piece of wax paper. Start pressing and spreading out the Apple Torte dough. You are looking for the dough to cover the bottom of the pan and also up the sides. I promise you that you will have enough dough. You just need to have a bit of patience when spreading it out. I’ll wait until you are done……Ready?

Apple Torte Filling

You can use the same mixing bowl as you did for the crust. Just wipe it clean.

Place the cream cheese and sugar in the bowl and beat until combined. Next mix in the egg and vanilla, beating well.

Pour the Apple Torte batter into the crust shell, spreading evenly over the crust.

Topping

Start by slicing your apples and placing them into a bowl. Next pour the sugar and cinnamon on top of the apples mixing until all of the apple slices are coated in the sugar mixture.

Taking the apple slices, one at a time, place them around the pie filling facing the same way. By all means, if you want to go rogue and place them how you want, please do. You will continue to do this until the pie filling is covered.

If you are like me (and let’s just pray that this reference is simply regarding this particular step), you will have apple slices left over. Just use those to fill in any gaps. Trust me when I tell you that nobody is going to give 2 you know what’s, if one row has more apples, unless you are using this as a math example. Then you’ll certainly have a problem!

Lastly sprinkle the sliced almonds on top of the Apple Torte.

Place your work of art in the preheated oven and bake 450ºF for 10 minutes. Lower the oven temperature to 400ºF and bake for another 25 minutes. Remove from the oven, place the Apple Torte on a cooling rack. Cool completely then remove from the pan.

Apples to Apples

Nowadays there is quite the variety of apples out there to choose from. Check out this website to see just how many apples there are worldwide!

I am truly old school when it comes to a lot of things. Granny Smith apples were (and perhaps still are) the first choice when it came to baking with apples. When it came to eating apples for a snack I remember the Red Delicious ones being popular.

I was never a fan of apples, however living in MN, where the Honey Crisp apples are grown, I started to enjoy snacking on them a lot more. I still don’t buy apples on a regular basis as I am more of anything berry type of girl, but I absolutely love apples when they are baked.

This Apple Torte is so easy to make and not only can you serve it for dessert, you can absolutely serve this as a breakfast treat, just like my Sour Cream Pound Cake. I mean, who doesn’t love something that they can have for breakfast or dessert? Enjoy! ~Christina
