Prepping the Ingredients
Start by heating your grill on high. While the grill is heating up cut your bell pepper into wedges and the onion into thick slices. Drizzle them with a little bit of olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper.

Place on grill and cook for 10 minutes or so flipping them half way through. You are looking to get some slight char marks on the vegetables, like this.

Once the vegetables are cooled, dice them up. I like bigger chunks of both the pepper and onion however if you want smaller pieces go for it! Grab a large bowl and place the sausage and cut up vegetables in it.

Ok ladies and gents, I will be honest with you here. Once you start mixing the sausage, pepper and onions together, you’re going to find out that sausage isn’t as loose as hamburger meat. With that being said, you are going to have to manipulate the veggies in while mixing everything together. In my experience, I will do my best to get the ingredients mixed together and then I will just grab a handful and press in the veggies while forming the patties.

Pit Stop
In my younger years, one of my first jobs was working at a grocery store. I absolutely loved it. I even loved going into them with my mom to shop for groceries. Now a days, I don’t really like going because it’s truly no fun when I have to pay for the groceries! There was a fantastic grocery store called Valley Farm Markets. You would walk in and front and center would be fresh bread, rolls, sweets, etc. Next up was this unbelievable meat and deli counter. One of the meats that stood out was these Sausage Burgers with Peppers and Onions. Not only are they nice on the eyes, but super yummy. When I moved to MD I would come up most weekends and made sure to stop by and get their chicken, sausages and bread. I sure do miss that old brick and mortar.
Sausage Burgers with Peppers and Onions Finale
Start by heating up the grill and getting it nice and hot. Place the burgers directly on the grates and grill each side for about 5 minutes. Once flipped cook for 4 minutes then top with mozzarella cheese (or whatever cheese you fancy) and cook for another minute. Place cooked burger on a roll and top with your favorite condiments. Our favorite topping is the Hot Cherry Peppers with lettuce and tomato.
I love to serve these burgers with my Potato Salad with Bacon as a side. Or if you are looking for something a bit lighter, try this Ceasar Salad! Let me know what you think! ~Christina
